About SYLVIE

PRODUCTION

I have a deep love for podcasting and radio, and flow with these mediums recognising the profound storytelling potential of them, whether it's to educate, entertain, evoke joy, or create a safe space for introspection on sadness.

Previously, I was the Forward Planning producer for 1Xtra Talks, the only weekly national radio programme aimed at Black audiences across the UK on BBC Radio 1Xtra. A proud moment was booking Labour MP Dawn Butler, for the first 1Xtra Talks live show, held at the Roundhouse in London. We secured exclusive content from Dawn Butler which resulted in national press coverage.

ACADEMIA

My passion for podcasting and radio has catapulted me into academia, where I am a Social Science PhD candidate. My PhD traces how the UK audio industry (radio and podcasting) create content that engages with Black audiences.

I also lecture. My areas of interest are: postcolonialism, society, media, podcasting, radio and race.

IMPACT/ CONSULTANCY

I serve on the board of trustees of Sounddelivery, a charity dedicated to enhancing representation and diversity of voice in the media. We achieve this mission by offering training, fostering support, and establishing connections within the media industry for individuals with lived experience, empowering them to drive positive change.

I also work with organisations who want to operate in equitably, as opposed to performatively.
